The fact that the transfer window reopens again in just a few weeks also adds a bit of spice – particularly for players playing at mid-table and lower mid-table clubs who may be looking towards a move to greener pastures. Some teams will be looking to plug their holes in defence and attack with more movement usually associated with clubs that aren't competing in Europe since the players aren't cup-tied.
Looking ahead to the contests set to unfold on Monday, we have Warford vs Crystal Palace kicking everything off and, while it may not look like the most mouth-watering of fixtures, both teams have a lot to play for right now and will really be looking for the big three points.
Punters will find Watford trading as the slim favourites here with the bookmakers offering up a price of around 5/4 for the most part with a few going 7/5 and 13/10. The odds on Crystal Palace come it at a best price of about 9/4 with the majority of books pricing them at a 2/1 margin to pick up the away victory.
The draw in the opening contest can be backed at a 5/2 listing and that may be a popular option since many might think this one is destined to end in a stalemate.
Arsenal take on West Brom and you'll find the Gunners likely to continue their good run of form as they come into the contest with a 4/11 price tag. The Baggies can be backed at a 9/1 listing and they are coming in fresh off a loss to Manchester United so they will probably be looking towards an easier time of the season to begin cobbling together more points.
