Boxing Day Premier League Fixtures Pt 3

The big clash of the day is undoubtedly the final match-up when we have a top 2 clash in the English Premier League with Manchester City playing Liverpool. Either of these sides look more likely to win the Premier League than any of the other teams at this point and it has to be said that Manchester City are definitely the out-and-out favourites to get the job done at the end of the season.

They have had some mixed performances however and tend to be real flat-track bullies - taking their lesser opponents for 6 or 7 goals but offering up underwhelming performances against their Champions League challengers. 

Liverpool, on the other hand, actually appear to be having a real go of it this season and Brendan Rodgers deserves the plaudits for putting this side to work and helping them grind out results. If they can keep this momentum going - and keep Luis Suarez healthy - who knows what they can accomplish this season. 

City are getting the real edge from the bookmaker here with an odds-on price of 1.72 to get the home victory at the Emirates. This is a side that tends to excel when their best players act like their best players and a virtuoso performance from Sergio Aguero will deliver a win more often than not. Yaya Toure is always a major presence in midfield and Vincent Kompany is one of the world’s best defenders. 

Look for Liverpool to play spoilers at 4.33 - and at that price it’s worth having a bash on them because you’re effectively betting on Luis Suarez to give them a hell of a time all 90 minutes. A big win for Liverpool here - thumping City at home - would be a bold declaration of their title intentions and you reckon it might convince people that this could truly “be their year.”
