BRAZIL VS PORTUGAL PREDICTIONS AND BETTING PREVIEW

This one looks like it could shape up to be one of the feature matches of the World Cup 2010 Group Stages. The bookmakers don't really look sure who's going to take this one and you could assume that this match could be one that favours the in-play bettors.

It's a winnable match for both sides and the group looks like it's going to be these two going through anyways. Ivory Coast would need to beat North Korea by a nine goal margin while Portugal lose to Brazil. That's a real long-shot, but when you figure that Portugal put 7 past North Korea, you get the feeling that a determined Ivory Coast could at least make things interesting if things go their way.
Bet365 has priced Brazil as the 2.2 favourites to win the match while Portugal are priced at 3.75. The draw is trading at 3.0 and I think that's a solid price.
I don't necessarily see a sense of urgency points-wise so I think this will be more of a national pride sort of match and I also get the feeling that the flair players will see this as one where they will really be able to express themselves. Cristiano Ronaldo has had a somewhat underwhelming tournament so I have a feeling that a stand-out performance against Brazil could change the narrative somewhat. He will look to see lots of the ball.
Luis Fabiano just edges out Cristiano Ronaldo as the bookmakers favourite for an anytime goal. Fabiano started the tournament a bit lukewarm but has grown in confidence- performing very well in their last fixture against Ivory Coast. He's priced at 2.6 while Cristiano Ronaldo can be backed at 2.75.
You're looking at a 3.1 margin for Robinho anytime and that's not a bad bet either. Nilmar and Grafite both trade at 3.25.
If this match turns out to be a really close one, I would keep my eyes on Dani Alves, as he's well-priced at 9.5 to score a goal at any point. I think in a nervy sort of fixture, these types of players can make all the difference.
