Bundesliga Preview
With Bayern Munich having won the title weeks ago, we come to the last weekend of the Bundesliga with very little to play for. There are also no relegation issues because Freiberg, Bochum and Hansa Rostock have all bit the dust and will be playing their football in a lower division next year. What there is to play for is one Champions League spot and one Qualifying spot, plus the two UEFA Cup places. Five clubs have these honours between them and it will be interesting to see who gets what. Schalke currently have the second place booked and they'll be confident of clinging on to it, because they have a relatively easy away trip to bottom club Freiberg. At 1/3 they are a short price, but even the 13/2 about Freiberg will put some punters off. A point will not be good enough for Schalke if Stuttgart win so they have to go to Freiberg and despatch them. Stuttgart have a few problems because their last match is home to the Champions Bayern. It will be worth noting the team that Bayern (11/5) put out, but Stuttgart (Evs) know that they just have to get at least something out of this game. Behind them lie Hertha Berlin (one pt behind) and Werder Bremen (two pts behind). Hertha especially will kick themselves if they do not get three points. They are 1/4 to beat mid table Hannover, and this has to be a banker. Bremen (4/6) meanwhile have an away trip to Kaiserslautern (7/2) and the 7/2 for the home team looks very tempting indeed. If Werder Bremen were to slip up and lose, then it would allow Bayer Leverkusen to oust them from their UEFA Cup spot?..if they were to beat Monchengladbach at home. At 1/3 you could put this down as a banker because I'm sure they will keeptheir end of the bargain up. So it's a little bit of a damp squib for a final day but the Stuttgart v Bayern Munich game should be a treat.
