CAN FERNANDO TORRES, WAYNE ROONEY OR DIDIER DROGBA SCORE 30 GOALS THIS YEAR?
Yesterday we brought you some odds from Paddy Power detailing the predictions for the 2010/11 Premier League top goalscorer. Well, throw those odds out as Paddy has just released a new selection of odds and they’ve thrown in a crazy enhanced special to make it even more interesting.
Yesterday, the betting favourites for the Premier League top goalscorer were Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres, both priced at 9/2. However, now we’ve seen them price Rooney and Torres alongside Didier Drogba at 11/2 odds. I found it odd that Paddy didn’t have Drogba listed as the co-favourite at least as many online wagering sites have him as an outright stand-alone favourite.
Now, here’s where things get especially interesting- if your selection scores 30 or more goals in the English Premier League this season then you’re going to get DOUBLE THE ODDS on that player. Your 11/2 quickly becomes 11/1 if any of your selections tear the Premier League a new one this year.
In fact, I reckon a fair amount of punters may just back all three selections in hopes that one of them will hit the 30 goal mark. Look at it this way- if you dropped £100 on each selection and one of those three becomes top goalscorer but doesn’t hit the 30 goal mark, you’re still looking at a £650 return- that’s more than double your £300 investment. If one of them does hit the magic mark of 30 goals, then you’re cashing out £1200.
This is easily one of the best season-long bets you can make and I reckon that this market may not be available for much longer. Also keep in mind that each-way betting is available and that’s a nice way to make some cash from a longer-odds selection.
Other notable contenders include Robin Van Persie at 10/1, Carlos Tevez at a 14/1 price and Spurs striker Jermain Defoe at 18/1. Darren Bent sits at 20/1 with Nicolas Anelka trading at 22/1. Emmanuel Adebayor, Frank Lampard and Marouane Chamakh are all listed at 25/1.
The Premier League season is almost upon us, and betting opportunities like this can sometimes be too sweet to turn down!
