CAN MONFILS DERAIL NADAL IN MADRID

Rafael Nadal is gunning for an unprecedented 18th Masters Series title in Madrid. Last year, he finished runner-up to Roger Federer at the Mutua Madrilena Open after he arguably expended all his energy in a riveting four-hour-and-some-change, three-set marathon-of-a-semi-final-clash against Novak Djokovic.
Nadal enters his quarterfinal clash against Gael Monfils undefeated on clay. He is 12-0 with back-to-back titles in Monte Carlo and Rome. Naturally, Nadal is the favourite to advance into the semis at the expense of Monfils and few tennis bettors would even consider betting against him.
William Hill is after offering Nadal at a solid 1/25 price. Monfils weighs in as the 9/1 puppy. Certainly, if Monfils were to beat Nadal, on his favourite surface and on home turf, he would have to play lights out tennis.
Monfils is capable of raising the level of his game but so far against Nadal he has only ever managed to do that for a set or so in the past. Bearing in mind Monfils is only just returned from injury time out, the odds are stacked against him upsetting Nadal.
Nadal is listed as a solid favourite across the board. In Set betting markets, Nadal is favoured 1/7 to win in straight sets and at an interesting 9/2 to win in three sets.
Monfils is disadvantaged at 25/1 to win in straight sets and at 16/1 to win in three sets
The favoured outcome is a two-set affair which is trading at  1/12 irrespective of the winner. A three-set affair between this pair is going for 6/1.
First and Second set betting is going for 6/1 to Gael Monfils for each set and  1/12 to Nadal for each set.
William Hill has a whole buffet of wagering options planned once the match gets underway.
