CARLING CUP WEDNESDAY PREVIEW AND BETTING PREDICTIONS
We certainly saw an exciting day of action on Tuesday as the Carling Cup kicked off again in a very big way. It’s clear that Wednesday’s Carling Cup betting should be especially profitable as we’ve got several rather straightforward contests that are still offering up a bit more value than you might expect.
We’ll be examining the odds on each fixture here and giving you our exclusive accumulator tip for the Carling Cup.
Aston Villa vs Blackburn is an interesting encounter and this is definitely a winnable fixture from both sides. Villa are priced at even money for the outright win and Blackburn can be backed at a lengthy 13/5 price tag. Sam Allardyce’s men can be hard to play against and it looks like Villa are still trying to find their feet. The Gerard Houllier situation will be something to keep an eye on.
Chelsea vs Newcastle should be a more exciting fixture than many would initially assume and you reckon that there may be a few cheeky bets placed on the Magpies to pull this one off. Chelsea are well-priced at 4/11 while Newcastle can be backed at a 7/1 listing. A draw is trading at 15/4 and you have to respect Newcastle’s ability this season. They will either lose 4-0 or win 1-0.
Scunthorpe vs Manchester United is more or less the feature match-up today and you firmly expect United to get the result here even if they play a second string side. You can back the Red Devils at 4/11 while Scunthorpe are trading at a 15/2 price tag. The draw is listed at 15/4 but it will take a hell of a performance to force extra time.
Wigan vs Preston has cupset potential but the Latics are considered odds-on favourites with an 8/11 price. Preston North End are trading at 7/2 while the draw can be had at 14/5. This one could go either way and the draw may prove the safe option for neutrals.
Liverpool vs Northampton is a tremendously lopsided fixture you reckon that Roy Hodgson would be shown the door if they somehow managed to lose this one. Liverpool are a 1/5 price tag to win the match while Northampton can be backed at 12/1. The draw is trading at 11/2 but Liverpool should be able to handle this one easily.
West Brom vs Manchester City is the last fixture of the day and City are the odds-on favourites for the win. You can back Roberto Martinez’s side at a 10/11 price tag while West Brom are sitting at 3/1. A 5/2 price is available on the draw and you reckon that this might be a winnable fixture for West Brom but they will need an effective and organized team performance. City just don’t look 100% these days.
