CESC FABREGAS TRANSFER BETTING ODDS SLASHED TO 1/20 AS BARCELONA BECKONS
It has been a very interesting day in the transfer betting markets with the silly season getting underway before the 2010 World Cup, which will come as a surprise to many. The most likely transfer of the summer looks to be Cesc Fabregas heading to his old club Barcelona and the rumour was confirmed today that Barca have made an official approach- only to be rebuffed by Arsene Wenger and the Gunners board.
The transfer is heavily-favoured to be completed by summers end. The initial offer was thought to be in the region of £30,000,000 but the chatter is that Arsenal want nearly double that before they will part with their captain.
My question is whether Fabregas is going to get enough games at Barca to justify such a colossal price tag. I mean, they already have Iniesta and Xavi- are they switching to a 4-5-1 or something for next season? Maybe the intention is to sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic (who could wind up at Arsenal as part of a swap deal) and deploy David Villa as the lone front man with Lionel Messi tucked in behind him or possibly playing in a wider position. A midfield of Xavi-Iniesta-Fabregas looks as creative as one can get, but the lack of a holding player could hurt them in Europe.
Anyways, Skybet has slashed Fabregas’ price to 1/20 to transfer to Barcelona by summers end. It’s a bit of a different story at Betfair, however, with Cesc Fabregas priced at 1.87 to stay at Arsenal and 1.6 to leave. Clearly, the odds are much better at Betfair for Cesc Fabregas transfer betting.
Additionally, should he wind up being poached by a certain Mr. Mourinho, you would still get paid out on the Betfair wager as Skybet’s market only covers a move to Barcelona.
Just as a side note, the Steven Gerrard to Real Madrid betting odds are priced at even money. I expect some blockbuster transfers once the show in South Africa winds down.
