Champions League Betting Heats Up On Wednesday
- By Allan Pederson on November 24, 2010 16:51 GMTWe’re getting down to the business end of the Champions’ League Group Stages and several teams are facing must-win scenarios today.
There are a number of exciting fixtures unfolding and we’ll be taking a look at the stand-out match-ups today.
Tottenham vs Werder Bremen will probably be a very closely-watched affair as Spurs really are looking the genuine article in Europe. Inter will be expected to take all three points against Twente today but if Spurs can get the win over Werder by a decent margin, then their goal difference could see them finish as group winners, regardless.
Spurs are the heavy favourites for this one with the bookies pricing them at 4/9. An upset victory by the German side trades at 11/2 but they’ve only been able to notch three goals in four games and they will need to step it up big-time if they plan on taking anything from this one.
Rangers vs. Manchester United is a widely-anticipated all-British clash that sees Sir Alex Ferguson heading back to the club he played for as a professional. Ibrox will be rollicking for this one and all eyes are firmly fixed on Wayne Rooney as he’s gotten a bit of a run-out and should be near full fitness. United are odds-on for the win and they trade at 4/6 while Rangers are a 4/1 shot to keep their qualification hopes alive.
The Scottish club need Valencia to slip up once in their next two matches so you expect them to count on United to take maximum points from their fixture at Old Trafford on Matchday 6.
Whenever Barcelona plays it’s always a bound to attract a crowd and today’s fixture against Greek side Panathinaikos is no exception to the rule. The Catalan club go into this one as the heavy favourites with bookies pricing them at a slim 3/10 for the away victory.
They produced a master class last weekend and you expect Guardiola’s side to come into this one with a big of extra pomp. The Greeks are trading at a lengthy 8/1 to take the victory but you reckon their fans would be satisfied with the draw, which is available at a 9/2 price.
