The bookmakers look to be favouring a 2-1 draw and they’ve got that priced at 15/2 while Real Madrid to win 2-1 trades at 17/2. Real Madrid 2-0 pays out at a10/1 while Real Madrid 3-1 pays at 10/1 as well.
Real to get that 3-0 result they need to progress to the next stage on away goals, would reward at 14/1 but that’s going to take some masterful defending. Even shipping a single goal against Borussia Dortmund makes it very, very difficult.
There isn’t a significant amount of value to be found backing Dortmund to qualify for the next stages and the rewards are there for a plausible turn-around for Real Madrid - a comeback does pay out at a considerable margin. There is a lot to like about Jose Mourinho and his ability to spring surprises but you nearly have to wonder if he’s checked out or not at this point.
You also have to wonder about the Real Madrid players who still want to keep their press going on in La Liga and not get carried away chasing a lost cause in a Champions League final. It’s an interesting state of affairs in terms of motivation. Real to win 5-0 and pull off one of the all-time comebacks in history would pay off at a massive 50/1.
Cristiano Ronaldo to score the last goal of the game and Real Madrid to win pays out at 16/5.
VERDICT: It’s unlikely that Real Madrid can put three past Borussia Dortmund while keeping a clean sheet, but stranger things have happened. Real are good value to wi this match outright, but their qualification price is probably going to look a lot better with only a two goal deficit - so if you think they’re going to turn it around save your wagers for in-play.
