After the refereeing shambles at Old Trafford yesterday, one has to hope that things will be a lot less controversial during Tuesday’s fixtures in the 2012/13 Champions League. Juventus hold a significant edge over Celtic as they kick off in Italy in what looks to be a relative formality.

In the other fixture, Paris Saint-Germain are the significant favourites to get the better of Valencia. Neither of these seem poised on a knife-edge and both PSG and Juventus are massive favourites to progress to the next stage of the competition.
As it currently stands, bookmakers are listing PSG to qualify outright at a 1/8 price tag while Juventus to progress to the next stage by any method trades at a microscopic 1/500 listing.
Celtic to make it to the next stage trades at a massive 40/1 price tag.
It really seems to be a question of “how many?” for the Italian giants here, but there is always a chance that Celtic could turn it around, win this fixture, and at least try to make up the deficit. They will truly need to come out all guns blazing if they really want to make anything happen.
Backing Celtic to win tonight’s fixture would pay out at 15/2 and we’ve seen this price increase a bit as all the late money pours in on Juventus to get the result even though they don’t really need to.
For Juventus, they’ve got Mirko Vucinic, Nicolas Anelka and Sebastian Giovinco all trading at a slim 4/5 to get a goal at any time in the match while Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella are both odds on at 10/11.
All eyes are likely to be on David Beckham in PSG’s fixture and he’s at a 2/1 price tag to grab a goal at any point in the match. Look for Becks to convert any penalties PSG get offered as it would be a big moment in the French, and global, media.
