Champions League Knock Out Round Betting Preview Part 3

AC Milan vs Barcelona is going to be one of the marquee match-ups of this knock out stage and the Catalan Club go in with a very short price to win the first fixture. They trade at 1/2 to get the away victory at the San Siro and that tells you something about how much the bookmakers really fancy them. Barcelona were not their usual effective selves last year in the Champions League so you do reckon that there will be a sizable contingent of punters out there looking to take a stab against them. Winning the first fixture would be a massive step forward for AC Milan and it's likely that they will need that going into the next match-up at Camp Nou.

AC Milan trade as high as 11/2 to get a victory against Bayern in the first match and that's going to see a lot of Italian punters (and neutrals alike) coming out of the woodwork to lock in some good odds. The draw, which would suit AC Milan as well, is trading at 16/5.
Barcelona are the biggest favourites to progress in the competition and they're priced at a slim 1/7 to go through to the quarter finals. Milan can be backed at a 4/1 price tag but you would imagine that winning the first one will be critical to them progressing so the 11/2 price is probably the better option for those looking to cash in.
Real Madrid vs Manchester United is probably the biggest and most high-profile fixture happening at this stage of the competition. The Spanish side are the big favourites to get the better of Sir Alex Ferguson's men in the opening leg of the tie. They go in with a price similar to Barcelona – 1/2 to get the outright result against Manchester United in the first 90 minutes.
The Red Devils are a 9/2 price tag and it's tough for their fans to ever get odds like that on their side and, with Robin Van Persie going great guns in front of goal, you definitely fancy them to get goals at the Bernabeau – especially since Real aren't exactly having a banner year.
Jose Mourinho will have his men ready for this one and, of course, there is the subplot of Cristiano Ronaldo – the world's #2 ranking best player – to face-off against his old comrades from Old Trafford. United will go for this one and they'll be buoyed by a recent spell of good play – the only real blemish was shipping that last second equalizer to Spurs at the weekend.
