Champions League Knockout Stage Latest Odds Pt 3

Chelsea face a tricky tie away in Turkey as they face off against Galatasaray in a fixture that looks to be fairly straightforward from an odds-perspective but much more problematic once you actually get down to the nitty gritty of it. You have to assume that Jose Mourinho will try to put the tie to bed by winning the opening leg 3-0 at home or something like that so that the trip to Istanbul won’t be quite as intense. Foreign sides are always given the run-around over there and it should be fascinating to watch Didier Drogba face off against his old side.

The Blues are a 5/6 shot to win the next match at home while the Turkish visitors are trading at around 16/5. In regards to outright qualification, Chelsea fave a big advantage with a solid 1/6 price tag against Galatasaray’s 7/2. The advantage of playing the first leg at home will definitely suit Chelsea.

Real Madrid appear to be the biggest favourites of the tournament to win the opening leg of their knockout round fixture. Facing off against Schalke 04 should be more than feasible for the high-flying Spanish side but you have to wonder whether they may get done in by over-confidence - particularly if the first leg doesn’t exactly go according to plan.

The Galacticos are priced at 8/15 to win the first fixture and the German visitors are a 5/1 shot. Real Madrid are the biggest favourites to secure progression with an un-bet-able 1/14 odds to qualify outright. Schalke 04 can be backed at 13/2 to progress to the next level and that would be a major statement if they could pull off something like that.

Zenit St Petersburg are becoming a real force in Europe over the past few years and they are facing a tricky prospect in Borussia Dortmund but they have every chance if they can get a result in the first fixture. The odds are against them with bookmakers pricing them at 16/5 and the German hosts at a shorter 4/5 listing.

Borussia Dortmund can be backed at a very short 1/8 price tag to qualify outright while the Russian side are offering up a 9/2 price tag.

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich is the final fixture and that has the potential to be a very one-sided affair or an absolute classic. It goes without saying that Bayern will be the outright favourites for this one but you have to wonder whether Arsenal can hold their own early on against the Germans and force themselves through.

Bayern are evens to win the first fixture at home and then Arsenal can be backed at a 5/2 price for the away victory. They are a very short 1/5 price tag and that means they are expected to kill the tie off in the first fixture - something that might be difficult to do if Arsenal really show up.
