Champions League Mid-Week Update PT 1
- By A.J. Plenty of Europe’s top sides are going to be playing this week and the marquee fixture appears to be Manchester United taking on Spanish side Sevilla and the 0-0 scoreline of their last contest makes this one a wide open affair.
United go into the contest as the outright favourites and that’s probably justified considering the fact that they came close during their last contest and were really looking to not concede a goal there.
Grabbing an away strike in Spain would have been nice but United are always formidable in European contests at Old Trafford so you can expect a performance here.
Jose Mourinho’s men will be coming into the match full of confidence having taken Liverpool to task at the weekend with Marcus Rashford earning his first start of the new year and really making an impression with a brace courtesy of some excellent assisting by Romelu Lukaku.
The tactical switch deployed by Mourinho might be what we see unfold again here with Alexis Sanchez dropped back into an attacking midfielders position and it seemed to work like a charm. United have been plagued by how to fit the big signing of Sanchez into the formation and this seems to have gotten the job done with good effect.
