Champions League Preview: Bursaspor vs Manchester United and Tottenham vs Inter
- By Allan Pederson on November 2, 2010 15:51 GMTThe two matches involving English teams are likely to be the feature fixtures tonight in the 2010 Champions League.
United face an easier task, as easy as an away fixture in Turkey can be, as their opponents are still yet to score in the competition. If United can pull off the victory then they’ll be sitting pretty on the verge of qualification.
Spurs vs Inter could very well wind up being a classic, at least based on the quality of the last match between the two sides, and you reckon that plenty of Spurs fans will be getting last minute bets in on their side. Gareth Bale will be the key figure here for Spurs and you have to wonder what type of game plan Rafa Benitez will have for the Welsh wizard.
Spurs are getting the slim edge here from the bookmakers with a 2.62 price putting them just a shade ahead of the Italians who trade at 2.75.
The Tottenham faithful will be buoyed by the announcement that Rafael van der Vaart has shaken off injury concerns and is looks set to be deployed along with Tom Huddlestone. There’s plenty of value on the Spurs vs Inter match and the bookmakers will likely see more than a few bets on Bale to get a hat-trick. Van der Vaart looks a great bet to score based on his last outing and if he truly is 100% fit then he will definitely be the go-to-guy.
Should Spurs take all three points and FC Twente and Werder Bremen draw, then they will be nearly there in their quest to progress to the knockout stages- a real feather in Harry Redknapp’s cap.
Javier Hernandez has been taking advantage of Wayne Rooney’s absence and, even though he had a quieter match than usual on Saturday, you still reckon he’s going to get the nod to start here unless Fergie goes 4-5-1 with Berbatov up top. United are the odds-on favourites but there’s still a bit of value there with a 1.72 price. The hosts have had trouble finding the back of the net but they may be able to capitalize on the absence of Rio Ferdinand. Bursaspor trade at a straight 5.0 but United should stroll to victory here if they can keep eleven men on the pitch.
