CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER FINAL ODDS AND BETTING TIPS APRIL 8

Barcelona-Bayern Munich: It isn't often that Bayern Munich are listed at odds of 7.0 to secure a victory, but then again, they were also supposed to win the Champions League in 1999. This is a really interesting draw featuring two established European powerhouses with some of the biggest names on the planet in each team. We'll see Luca Toni lining up against Messi and Schweinsteiger facing off against the likes of Carlos Puyol. This is a really tasty fixture and I'm hoping for goals here. The opening fixture is at the Nou Camp and I'm banking on a very tight, nervy first half. Barca will be anxious about allowing an away goal here and I could see Bayern trying to get men forward in the opening 15 minutes in an attempt to take Barcelona by surprise. Barca are listed at 1.6 to win the opening leg with Bayern paying the aforementioned 7.0 and the draw pays out at 3.9. That's really juicy odds on a draw and I've seen Barcelona be quite shaky at the back during La Liga competition, so I think its quite likely that Bayern will secure a goal and blow the tie wide open. Munich have an effective team that knows how to grind out results, but also knows how to frustrate opposition who use flair-based football. I think they are a perfect foil to Barcelona's style of play and this one isn't quite as locked up as the bookies seem to think.RECOMMENDATION:A 1-1 draw pays out at 6.0. The outright draw is listed at 3.9. Either way, I'm betting against Barca in this one. Liverpool-Chelsea: Well, we all knew this one was coming. I had actually figured Platini and the rest of the overpaid Bureaucrats at UEFA would line this one up Liverpool-Chelsea and Man U-Arsenal and then seat them against each other so the winners would have to play in the Semis. Anything to keep two English teams out of the final, I suppose. But who cares, we know there's going to be three in the semis. Liverpool appear to be in stellar form and they've notched some big wins in the past week or so. I expect them to go at Chelsea with some verve and we'll finally be able to see Guus Hiddink at his tactical best. I think he's got something up his sleeve and Rafa could be undone by overconfidence. This fixture is definitely one for the punters. Liverpool are listed at 2.3 to win the first leg with Chelsea sitting at 3.3. The draw pays out at 3.1. I think the first leg could very well end up 0-0 and the bookies seem to be thinking along the same lines. 0-0 pays 6.0 as does Chelsea 1-0. Liverpool 1-0 pays out at 6.6. I don't see many goals in this game. Chelsea are the slimmest of favourites to venture into the next round. They're listed at 1.95 to go through compared with Liverpool's 2.0. RECOMMENDATION:I'm going to back Chelsea to get the away goal and frustrate Liverpool. 1-0 Chelsea pays 6.0.
