Champions League Wednesday Betting Tips Part 2
- By A.J. Ryder on September 17, 2014 17:28 GMTAjax vs PSG looks like a solid match-up and you can expect the French side to put in a good performance but backing them at 1.7 might not be appealing to many punters aside from their faithful fans as away favourites can be tricky to wager on - particularly in the early stages of the Champions League. Look for the Dutch side at a competitive 5.0 while the draw trades at 3.75.

Athletic Bilbao are a competitive side at this stage and they are the likely favourites over Shakhtar Donetsk, but the Ukrainian side have showed that they can tangle with nearly any opponents even on their travels. Ukrainian teams have a bigger advantage playing at home but you can expect them to give 100% here. They trade at 4.50 for the away win with Bilbao available at 1.83.
The biggest favourites of the day are Barcelona who can be backed at a 1.06 price tag to get the better of APOEL Nicosia who are one of the longest prices you will probably see in the entire tournament with a 41.0 price being traded pre-match. If they were to do the absolute impossible it would go down as one of the best results in the history of the club and serve as a major blemish for the Catalan Club. The draw can be backed at 12.0 but that’s just a bit too much of an ask and would only be a decent wager after watching the match for an hour or so and seeing if the draw was actually a likely outcome in some capacity.
Chelsea take on Schalke and they are a slim 1.30 favourite to get the job done here against the German side who can be backed at 12.0. That’s a bit of value there for a team that sometimes blank in Europe but after seeing how Chelsea have been taking apart Premier League teams lately it will be hard to bet against them. The 5.50 draw looks like a possibility but Chelsea should boss this.
Maribor are the home underdogs against Sporting Lisbon, who can be backed at 1.95 while Maribor trade at 4.0. Porto are heavy favourites to dispose of BATE Borisov and they are the slim 1.30 favourites against their 12.0 counterparts.
Another interesting match-up looks to be the Roma vs CSKA Moscow match with the Italians available at a solid 1.57 that looks like a decent price and will probably feature on a number of different accumulator wagers along with Chelsea and Bayern Munich. CSKA trade at 6.0 with the draw priced out at 4.0.
