CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEDNESDAY ODDS AND BETTING PREDICTIONS
Another first-rate day of action as Matchday One of the Champions League Group stages kicks off in earnest at 19:45 today. There is a number of choice fixtures and we’ll be outlining the odds on every match and giving you an indication of how we think things will go.
AC Milan vs Auxerre is looking heavily in favour of the Italian side, who are listed at a 4/11 price by popular UK bookmaker William Hill. The draw is available at 7/2 while Auxerre can be backed at a lengthy 8/1 price. The Italians are formidable enough and should have what it takes to win, but if Auxerre can keep them off the scoresheet for the first 45 minutes then this game could have a remarkably different complexion. This could be one for the in-play punters.
Arsenal vs Braga is looking like a routine victory for the English side and you can back them at a 2/7 price. Sporting Braga’s odds are priced at 10/1 while the draw sits at a 4/1. Arsenal all the way here as they look in very good form at the moment. They should be able to overcome their injury problems, but you reckon they can’t lose too many more men without results suffering.
Bayern Munich vs Roma looks a very solid clash and this one boasts a competitive price for fans of the Italian side. Roma are priced at 9/2 for the outright win while Bayern are the host side and trade at an odds-on price of 8/13. The draw is sitting at 11/4 and that looks about right- though you wouldn’t fault any Roma fans from having a bash at that price.
CFR Cluj vs Basel is the most wide-open fixture of the day with both sides priced well. Basel get the slim edge as the visitors with a 6/4 listing while Cluj can be backed at 7/4. The 23/10 draw is also a strong option here.
Marseille vs Spartak Moscow has the French side as the distinct 8/13 favourite against the Russians at 9/2. The draw is sitting at 11/4 but this looks to be the strongest potential for an upset today as the Russian sides are generally very organized and hard to play against. Their style should contrast well against Marseille and the 9/2 price looks a snip from this distance.
Real Madrid vs Ajax would be the highest-profile clash of the day and these two former European champs will have plenty of bragging rights on the table. Cristiano Ronaldo’s side are listed at 2/7 while the Dutch team can be backed at a lengthy 10/1. Don’t let that price fool you- this Ajax team means business and they can be difficult to break down. This is a tougher game for Madrid than it looks on the surface. The 4/1 draw looks a great bet for neutrals.
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Partizan Belgrade is tilted sharply in favour of the Ukrainian side at 2/5 while Belgrade trade at 7/1. The draw can be had at a 7/2 price tag and this one could be more interesting than it looks on the surface.
Zilina vs Chelsea could very well wind up being a one-sided contest like a number of Chelsea’s recent matches. You can back them at a slim 3/10 while Zilina trade at 9/1 despite being the home side. If Chelsea score early this one is over and the 4/1 draw looks to be the best bet for Zilina fans looking for some type of a result.
