There are two matchdays left in the current Champions League Group Stages and you can bank on things just starting to heat up in the wagering markets as we get closer and closer to the knockout stages that will begin to emerge late next winter in January.

A number of teams have had really interesting group campaigns and one of the most notable things has been sides failing to muster up a genuine challenge and top their group despite being an established side. Currently, you’ll find clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea all sitting second in their groups battling it out for a higher placing over the next two matchdays.

As it currently stands, Paris Saint Germain are the slim betting favourites to emerge as the Champions League victors next May. They trade as high as a 4/1 margin with a number of books going just a bit lower than that. They certainly boast an interesting mix of contenders for various positions and seem to have strength in depth everywhere in the team.

Additionally, PSG have big game players who can turn a match on its head with just a few steps and a yard or two of space.

Manchester City are considered to be the second favourites in the competition and they are a 5/1 shout to do so. European glory has still eluded City since they were taken over by the Abu Dhabi consortium so it will be interesting to keep your eye on that.
