Charlton vs Chelsea

Charlton v Chelsea is not the top of the table clash we expected at the start of the season. Nevertheless, the two clubs with 100% records meet at the Valley on Saturday afternoon. Of the two teams, it is arguably the Addicks who have been more impressive with three of their wins coming away. The most recent victory came at St.Andrews to make it four wins from their opening four Premiership matches, to leave Charlton full of confidence going into their high profile clash. Darren Bent was again the hero for Charlton and now has five goals to his name this term. The £3million spent on the former Ipswich already looks the signing of the season. Most clubs will expect to lose to Chelsea this season, Charlton though won't be one of them. Their simple yet attractive passing game is ideal for the time of year, and with Chelsea coming off a fortunate Champions League victory - a shock result is not totally out of the question. The Premiership champions may be unbeaten, but their performances have hardly inspired confidence.Given how well Charlton have played this season, and how Chelsea haven't quite yet played to their potential, it is extremely tempting to back the home win at a best price 13/2. However, Chelsea have shown time and again over the past twelve months that even when not at their best, they rarely lose. For this reason, the draw at 11/4 looks a better option.
