Charlton vs Tottenham betting tips

Charlton haven't been dealt the fairest hand in trying to secure Premiership survival in the final furlong of the season, as their two remaining fixtures are at home to a Tottenham side pursuing a European place for next term, and a trip to Anfield to tackle Champions League finalists Liverpool. Alan Pardew's men have dropped valuable points at The Valley recently against newly promoted clubs Reading and Sheffield United, hence their Premier League plight. And if they fail to beat Martin Jol's Spurs in their derby on Monday evening, they'll be without a paddle in the top flight - it'll be curtains. The Addicks were thrashed 5-1 by their north London-based rivals when they met in December and are 20 points adrift of ninth-placed Spurs. The Lilywhites will climb three places and be in pole position for a Uefa Cup spot should they leave south east London with three points. And, for all that Charlton will fight tooth and nail, I am confident that the visitors will prevail. Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane have forged a sound partnership in attack and between them are responsible for 20 of their team's league goals this term. Jol will be hoping that Keane, the scorer of five goal in his last three, can recover from an ankle injury in time for this clash. Mido, Stalteri and Lee Young-Pyo, however, are all certain to miss the game. In contrast to their stuttering start, Spurs have been performing consistently in the last quarter of the season and, crucially, their form on the road has taken a significant upturn. Indeed, they've amassed an impressive tally of 12 goals in their last five away, and have failed to score in just one away from White Hart Lane in the league since the turn of the year. The one occasion in which they did fail to hit the back of the net was when going down by a goal to nil against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, a valiant effort on Spurs' part, and that was the only reverse they've suffered in their last nine in the Premiership. There are a multitude of betting opportunities which makes plenty of appeal, but by far the most concrete is also the simplest - opting for an away win at a top-priced 11/8 with Paddy Power. They are as short as 11/10 with Skybet and Sporting Odds, a price which is more reflective of their superiority. All that's left to be said is this: lump on. Verdict - 8pts Tottenham to win @ 11/8 (Paddy Power)
