CHELSEA BETTING TIPS 2009/10 PREMIER LEAGUE

Chelsea are considered real contenders this year by top UK bookie William Hill. They share a 2/1 price with Manchester United to be crowned kings of the English Premier League. I feel as though United are slightly better poised than Chelsea, but Carlo Ancelotti's team should continue to play quality football and put on some great shows for the home crowd. For Chelsea, their season is made and broken by their matches against the other members of the big 4. They didn't take enough points from big games last year and were absolutely spanked by Manchester United- I don't think their season ever really recovered from that. They are 4/6 to finish higher than 3rd position this year and while that's a very distinct possibility, I don't see a huge amount of value. Should they finish third again, you've got a 5/2 price. Lower than that and you're looking at 16/5. Didier Drogba is the 2nd co-favourite (with Michael Owen) to be named top goalscorer this year with an 11/1 price. Nicolas Anelka is at 12/1 and they appear to be the only serious contenders for Chelsea in that market. In terms of silverwear, Chelsea are odds-on to go trophyless this year with a 4/5 price from William Hill. Should they win the Premier League and Carling Cup, you've got a 12/1 listing- which is identical for a Premier League and FA Cup double. That would be a really good first season for Ancelotti and I think that's what Abramovich is looking for this year- I don't see a Champions League victory in Chelsea's future. If you do, they are 25/1 to win the Champions league and the FA Cup, 16/1 to win the Premiership and the Champions League and 80/1 to pull off a Premiership, FA Cup and Champions League Treble. Chelsea are also favoured to best all the other London teams in the Premier League this year. William Hill has them at 4/11 in their London League with Arsenal at 2/1. Spurs are at 14/1 while West Ham and Fulham sit at 150/1 and 250/1, respectively.
