Chelsea to Find Their Feet Against Zilina
- By Jaymes Monte on November 22, 2010 16:36 GMTPremier League leaders Chelsea can bounce back to winning ways with a home tie against Champions League whipping boys MSK Zilina this Tuesday night.
The Blues lost to Birmingham on Saturday to record back-to-back league defeats for the first time in four-and-a-half years despite completely dominating the game at St Andrews. The result came at the end of a week which saw Ray Wilkins sacked as assistant manager and led to manager Carlo Ancelotti being forced to dispel rumours that he was also set to quit the club.
So, the visit of the Slovakian champions, whom Chelsea beat 4-1 in their own backyard earlier in the campaign and have yet to get a point on the board whilst conceding 15 goals in just four games, is likely to be a welcome one.
The bookmakers have the English champions at odds of just 1/7 to continue their 100% record in this year’s competition. Although they haven’t scored a goal in their last two fixtures they are just 11/5 to score 4 or more in this one with Didier Drogba the favourite at 11/4 to get the first of the night.
Other English involvement in the Champions League this Tuesday centres around Arsenal who need just a point in Braga to guarantee progression to the knockout stages.
The Gunners are also looking to bounce back from a disappointing weekend on the domestic front after they missed out on the opportunity to go to the summit of the Premier League. Despite leading north London rivals Tottenham 2-0 at half-time they came away from the game without a point.
The bookmakers are quoting 11/10 that Arsene Wenger can generate the perfect response from his players and get the win in Portugal. Braga are available to back at 3/1 whilst it is 5/2 for The Gunners to get the point that they need in order to progress.
Both Wenger and Ancelotti will be hoping that they can regain that winning habit in the Champions League this midweek.
