Chelsea v Anderlecht Preview
Chelsea v Anderlecht PreviewStan James PricesChelsea???1/5Draw????9/2Anderlecht??11It is not going to be difficult to predict this one. Chelsea should win this one, but for a couple of reasons they could run up a big total in doing so. Firstly Mourinho loves his mind games and if he opens his account with a very convincing win then he'll send an ominous message to the rest of the Champions League that this time Chelsea mean business. Secondly if Chelsea win this well then they can automatically put the pressure on the other two main sides in their group, Liverpool and Real Betis. There is no doubt that Anderlecht are the weakest side in Group G, and all the sides will see it as a must win game when they play them. If Chelsea do the business in this one then mentally they will be quids in. To quote Mourinho?"It is a dangerous group. We need the three points to keep one step ahead,"This will be the first meeting between the two sides in Europe. The trouble for the Belgians is that their record is poor against English sides. They have never won when visiting English teams and they have only beaten English opposition in 7 out of 25 efforts. They have also lost their last seven Champions League matches. Chelsea, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their last 11 home matches in Europe. So without being unfair on Anderlecht, you have to look at a convincing home win. Chelsea at 1/5 would only appeal in accumulators probably. Other options would be Chelsea half time and full time at 1/2, or Chelsea minus one goal at 4/6. The other markets to look at would be over 3 goals at 15/8, over 4 goals at 7/2 and if you are feeling confident then over 6 goals at 20/1 could be an option. Between 4 and 6 goals is 21/10.It's hard to see Anderlecht scoring?..Chelsea haven't conceded a goal in the Premiership yet?..so correct scores like Chelsea 3-0 at 13/2, Chelsea 4-0 at 9/1 and 5-0 at 16's must appeal. It's going to be hard to pin down what side Chelsea will play but I suspect that Lampard will start and will be out to prove a few doubters wrong. He's 6/1 to score first and 13/8 to score at anytime in the game. Drogba to score first at 3/1 also has to be a runner. One market that does appeal is for there to be 2 or more goals in the first half at 7/4. I can see the Blues coming out of the blocks early and dominating this game?.The game is live on ITV1 at 19.45pm.
