Chelsea vs Liverpool: Preview, Odds and Betting Tips

The FA Cup final is only days away and there is much anticipation as silverware is on the line once again. Chelsea and Liverpool will meet in a final for the second time this season, with the Reds seeing off Thomas Tuchel’s men in the EFL Cup back in February.

For Liverpool, their season has slowly gone from average to being on the verge of history. Jurgen Klopp’s men are still in the hunt for the quadruple and the motivation of being the first English side to do that could be an extra source of belief.

For Chelsea, it is all about revenge this time around, as they watched their season crumble midway through the season. It has been a rather disappointing campaign for the reigning European Champions and winning the FA Cup would salvage something from a below-par season.

The FA Cup is the only trophy Jurgen Klopp is yet to win since he was appointed manager. The German has admitted his desire to win the trophy. On the other hand, Chelsea have now reached three consecutive FA Cup finals in a row, though losing two to Arsenal and Leicester City.

A tough clash is on the cards but we have all the top predictions for you ahead of an interesting battle at Wembley.

Form Guide: Chelsea

Chelsea have experienced something of a recent slump, having won just once in their last four outings and losing twice in that time. Their most recent defeat to relegation-battling Everton side at the weekend pretty much summed up their current situation.

That defeat meant the Blues are now only three points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League. If results don’t go their way, they could still drop down to fourth though the chances are unlikely. Scoring goals have been a worry as well, as they have only managed to score more than one goal once in their last four outings.

Form Guide: Liverpool

Liverpool are the team to beat at the moment and their form pretty much says it all. Since the start of the year, they have only lost one game and that loss came against Inter in the Champions League. In 28 games across all competitions, they have 22 wins and five draws.

In contrast to Chelsea, Liverpool are enjoying a five-game winning streak across all competitions, scoring at least two goals themselves on four of those occasions. They are also in line to reach the Champions League final. Speaking about confidence, the Reds have lots of that at the moment.

How the match could go

It is always difficult to predict finals, given what is at stake for both sides. However, Liverpool are strong favourites based on form and team morale.

Psychologically, the Reds also have the upper hand in the sense that they already beat Chelsea in a final this season. However, games between these two teams have been rather close in recent time and you can’t rule out the possibility of Chelsea’s revenge.

Liverpool are indeed favourites to win but theoretically, the game could be much closer than expected and it could be fine margins that will ultimately decide the winner.

Betting Predictions

Sadio Mane to score
Sadio Mane has been one of the most consistent Liverpool forwards much recently. He has scored four goals in his last five outings, while recording an assist to go with. He also boasts a good record against Chelsea and we’re backing him to find the net at Wembley.

Over 2.5 goals
While many will go for a conservative result, we’re going the other way. With that in mind, we’re expecting an explosive game that will be decided in 90 minutes. An early goal could set the tone up for a good final and the possibility of both teams scoring makes it a plausible option as well. William Hill are offering odds of 17/20 (1.85) for both teams to score at least three goals and it’s worth a shout.

Liverpool to win
As earlier mentioned, Liverpool continue to chase the quadruple and we feel their motivation is just ahead what Chelsea have at the moment. The Blues have also looked rather shaky in recent weeks and we expect the Reds to capitalize strongly on this. Back Jurgen Klopp to claim his first FA Cup win with Liverpool at odds of EVS (2.00) offered by William Hill.
