Chelsea vs Manchester United is the Key Weekend Fixture
- By A.J. Ryder on December 16, 2010 21:53 GMTIf the bookies are correct then Didier Drogba is set for a make-or-break fixture against Manchester United in a blockbuster clash this Sunday. The wheels have seemingly come off at Chelsea and Carlo Ancelotti’s men are facing their worst patch for form in the entirety of the Abramovich era.
A loss against United this weekend would seriously derail Chelsea’s title aspirations and you would probably start to see fans begin to question Ancelotti’s presence.
Chelsea remain favourites to win the match and the bookmakers are pricing them at a relatively short price to take the victory. A few days out from the match and the Blues are priced as the 5/4 favourites. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men can be backed at a 9/4 price- which is a tidy listing for Red Devils fans.
From a neutral perspective, United would probably be satisfied with the draw at Stamford Bridge and a deadlock is also trading at 9/4.
As previously mentioned, Drogba is favoured to exert his influence on the match. He’s short-priced at 6/4 to grab a goal at any point in the match while his United counterpart Wayne Rooney is just a shade behind at 7/4. It’s worth remembering that both of them missed penalties this week.
Nicolas Anelka and Dimitar Berbatov are trading at 9/4 with Salomon Kalou, Florent Malouda and Javier Hernandez all priced at 5/2. Frank Lampard is expected to return for this massive clash and he’s also trading at a 5/2 listing.
Park Ji-Sung usually gets a run-out in matches like this and he’s a very solid 4/1 to follow up with another goal. Nani has been in a rich vein of form as well and he’s priced at 7/2 for an anytime goal.
It looks like we could see goals aplenty in this one with the bookies pricing the time of the first goal at 27th minute and under at 17/20 while 28th minute and over trades at 9/10. Stay tuned as more betting markets become available!
