Jose will be seeking to avoid the double from his former apprentice Frank Lampard and will be keen to alleviate his own deficiencies rather than focus on Chelsea’s.

Spurs are now just a point behind Chelsea after three wins in a row in the league, presumably due to Mourinho’s new trim, and a win would see them leapfrog Lampard’s men into fourth spot.

The last five meetings of these two sides have resulted in three wins for the Blues and two for Spurs.

Olivier Giroud could be in line to start after Michy Batshuayi failed to impress against Manchester United. He even managed to score a goal but it was ruled out for offside.

Mourinho is without two of his best attackers but Chelsea will feel much more comfortable about their clash knowing their rivals will be without a large majority of their goals.

Dele Alli could be integral to his manager’s plans on Saturday as he boasts a good record against Chelsea with five goals in his six games played against them.

With the Blues determined to get back on track and with Spurs’ top four ambitions gaining momentum, it should be a tight game at the back for two sides who need to improve in that department and are both starving for goals.
