CHELTENHAM GOLD CUP LAST MINUTE TIPS AND LATEST ODDS
Less than an hour to go until the Gold Cup is off and we're seeing punters piling onto Kauto Star and the Paul Nicholls yard in general, but the one story that seems to be emerging (at least in terms of the possible spoiler) is that Imperial Commander seems to be considered the top candidate to break a possible Paul Nicholls 1-2 with Kauto Star and Denman, or even a possible late flourish from Tricky Trickster.
The current Betfair exchange market for the 2010 Cheltenham Gold Cup now has over $6.5 million matched already and the real story for me is Imperial Commander at 9.6 as the third potential favourite. Cooldine also seems to be holding onto a 11.5 price and he looks to be popular in the place market. Tricky Trickster is currently laid at 22.0 on Betfair with plenty of volume.
Kauto Star is trading at around 1.75 so there isn't a huge amount of discrepancy between the exchange price and the odds that most bookmakers are giving away. However, you'll find Kauto at £1.9 on the tote boards right now and that price could rise before the off, which is drawing rapidly closer.
Ladbrokes has odds on Kauto Star's winning distance and he is favoured to win by over 8 lengths with a price of 4.0 with between 4 and 8 lengths inclusive listed at 5.5. Under 4 lengths pays out at the same price.
The bet that many seem to be looking to make is a Paul Nicholls 1-2-3 and I think it's worth a bet, but one thing that I will remind punters is not forget about My Will, who is also part of the Nicholls yard and if he does come in third, you'll be kicking yourself you didn't have all the Nicholls runners covered.
