Chrysler Championship, Copperhead, FLA
One of the most notable absentee from the Volvo Masters field is Retief Goosen, who prefers to defend his Chrysler title in Florida. An emphatic three-shot winner last year, he looks the main challenger this week to our favourite Vijay Singh, who is bidding to become the first player to earn $10 million in a season (moved to within $175,000 last week). Singh's incredible length off the tee must give him an outstanding chance on a course where length is an issue - three of last year's top five were among the par-five leaders - but with the lucrative Tour Championship to come he may not be feeling the pressure to cross the line in this one. With six of the world's top nine taking part this week, his price of 4/1 is nothing to shout about either. Goosen has a 100% course record, is US Open champion, was sixth in the Amex, and has finished in the top ten eight times in only 14 US Tour starts - all of which makes him a much more attractive betting proposition at three times the price of Singh! Further down our betting list, Briny Baird makes some appeal at 66/1. After a relatively quiet season, last week's runner-up spot at Disney took him over the $1 million barrier for only the second time in his career. He is a player who has worked well in patches before, especially at the end of the last campaign when securing four successive top 20 results, including a third place at this event.
