Constantine Maroulis booted from American Idol

American Idol lost one of the best backed contestants of the competition on Wednesday. Constantine Maroulis received the lowest number of votes leaving the live audience angry and frustrated, while judge Paula Abdul was left in disbelief. Initially not among the favourites, it took only a few weeks for the odds on Constantine to shorten. By the end the rocker had overtaken his chief rival Bo Bice and was rated as second most likely to win behind Carrie Underwood. Alongside Maroulis in the bottom two was Anthony Federov. What was perhaps even more surprising about the results show was Vonzell completed the bottom three group leaving Scott Savol safe to sing next time. For a month now Scott Savol has been favourite to be eliminated, often at very short prices, but each time the big man is finding a way to survive against all odds. The main bookmakers are yet to reopen the winner market, but when they do expect to see Carrie Underwood top of the betting, and Bo Bice a clear second favourite
