Collingwood who himself was run out after facing just one ball could offer no excuse for the team's downturn in form and confidence especially after they had impressed with back-to-back Twenty20 victories last week. "I would have thought we would have learnt from the last game and I hold my hand up as I was involved with the first one [run out]," said the England one-day captain. "We are not getting totals on the board for the bowlers to defend and we have got to get that right pretty soon." Put into bat, Collingwood's side managed 85 from the first 15 overs before the rains came and with them another collapse for the England batting line-up. Ian Bell fell first ball, and then both the captain and Owais Shah failed again when the match restarted with a reduced 36 overs to face. England then lost all of their momentum and slumped to 158 all out by losing eight wickets for 73 runs and New Zealand completed their victory in only 18.1 overs, chasing their target successfuly with a record one-day partnership by New Zealand against England from Jessie Ryder (79) and Brendon McCullum (80) off only 109 balls. The home side, ranked No 3 in the world for the 50-over format of the game, had started the series at 11/8 for victory as they were missing key players but after their convincing victory in the opener they were cut to 8/11 before this latest win put them even further in control and 1/7 to complete the series win. Despite England's woes in the one-day format they remain the favourites to win the Test series and are 4/6 to do so with Bet365. New Zealand are 4/1 and after their convincing displays in the one-day arena that price may well drop if they go on to wrap up the one-day series.
