CZECH REPUBLIC VS. SCOTLAND- LINEUPS AND PREDICTIONS
Craig Levein faces his biggest managerial test to date, when his Scotland side take on the Czech Republic in a crunch Euro 2012 qualification clash tonight.
Despite this, the build-up to this match has largely been overshadowed by a player that is not even taking part- Barry Ferguson
With Levein handing Ferguson the opportunity to once again represent his country, following the infamous boozegate scandal, Ferguson promptly declined choosing to rather focus on his club representation.
The Birmingham City player would be a great addition to a side that struggled against minnows Liechtenstein recently.
Further problems are present in that Ferguson's replacement Lee McCulloch is suspended for the Prague clash.
Levein has also decided to call in Sunderland's Phil Bardsley to bolster his side
On the Scottish attacking line, Levein has been open about the changes to his squad-refusing to be drawn on speculation that he will leave star striker Kenny Miller on the bench
QPR's international rookie Jamie Mackie will also be paired in attack with Steven Naismith of Rangers.
West Brom duo Graham Dorrans and James Morrison make up the midfield with Darren Fletcher and Steven Naismith. As expected, experienced pair Stephen McManus and David Weir form the central defensive partnership.
Scotland Starting XI: McGregor, Hutton, Weir, McManus, Whittaker, G Caldwell, D Fletcher, Dorrans, Morrison, Naismith, Mackie
Simply put...Scotland, and most certainly Levein, could do the Scottish public a massive favour here tonight by masterminding an away win to the Czech Republic
William Hill have put the hosts as favourites here at 1.67, to Scotland at 5.5. A draw will see 3.50
Scoreline bets are also a good look-in today, with a tight game expected by the bookies.
A 1-0 win in favour of the Czech’s is at 6.0, with a 2-0 at 7.50
The same scenario in favour of the Scots is registered at 12.0 and 29.0 respectively.
A 1-1 draw is set at 7.50
Without doubt, the player to watch on the Czech front is Tomas Rosicky. There's little doubt that he will want to use the international arena as a platform to prove to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger that he is worthy of a regular spot in his side, and tonight present the perfect opportunity for him to do just that.
This chap is one of the most dangerous forwards in the game, and is set at 3.75 to score at anytime. Tomas Necid heads up proceedings at 2.20
For Scotland, Rangers striker Kenny Miller is tops to find the back of the net at 3.25, with him paying out at 8.5 to open.
One of the key men to look out for this afternoon is that of Roman Bednar, who after an impressive display against Lithuania could start. Having started his careers at Hearts he will know the Scottish mindset, and could prove lucrative to the Czechs
Scotland and the Czech Republic have met twice in competitive fixtures; with the Czechs winning 2-1 away and 3-2 at home in their Euro 2000 qualifiers.
However, Scotland did clinch a 1-0 victory when the sides met in Glasgow in March- something that will certainly lift the Scots running out tonight.
Betting Tip: Regardless of the Czechs being strong favourites...a 0-0 draw at 8.50
