DAVID MILIBAND ODDS FOR NEXT LABOUR LEADER SLASHED BY ALL UK BOOKMAKERS
It certainly looks like the British public will get its answer on the next Labour Leader before too long. With Gordon Brown announcing that he will step down and attempt to seek a coalition government between Labour and Nick Clegg’s Lib Dems.
David Miliband had been considered front and center to succeed Brown and he is listed at an odds-on price by every single UK bookmaker offering up odds on the Next Labour Leader. Miliband trades at a 1.83 price on betting exchange Betfair amidst increasing volume.
Miliband has been listed at 4/7 with popular UK bookmaker William Hill and his price has now been cut to 1/2 to be named as the next Liberal Leader. The rationale must be that Brown isn’t simply offering to step down to form a coalition- it’s that he’s been forced out the door regardless.
The odds have also just shuffled around on Paddy Power- a popular Irish bookmaker. Miliband trades at 4/7 while an adjustment has been made on a Labour/Lib Dem coalition-dropping sharply from an 11/4 price to a mere 6/4. A conservative/Lib Dem coalition trades just a shade ahead now as the favoured option at 6/5. Very close.
Venerable bookmaker Victor Chandler is also listing David Miliband as the big favourite with a 1/2 price-slashed from previously higher odds just in the past hour or so.
Bookmaker Ladbrokes has now officially suspended betting on David Miliband being named the next Labour Leader. Ed Balls, Alistair Darling, Alan Johnson, Ed Miliband and Harriet Harman are all priced at 11.0- but this is significant.
Ladbrokes is the first bookmaker to suspend betting on David Miliband. Rest assured that the appointment is likely imminent now.
You can still cash in some very solid odds on David Miliband with popular bookie Stan James. They’ve got the pick of the crop with a 1.73 listing-clearly they aren’t acting as fast as some other bookmakers. Get in there while you can!
