DIEGO MARADONA ODDS TRADING AT 54/1 FOR NEXT ASTON VILLA MANAGER JOB

Aston Villa started the 2010/11 English Premier League absent the presence of Martin O'Neill as he severed his relationship with the club a mere five days before their first official fixture. The lack of a full-time manager didn't prove to be a barrier to Villa's success however, with Kevin MacDonald engineering a 3-0 victory over a lackluster West Ham United.
Diego Maradona entered the picture somewhat dramatically over the weekend with some noise coming out of Argentina from Maradona's connections that he is desperate to manage in England and would consider the Villa job.
This supposed come-and-get-me plea really did come out of nowehere and I think the general concensus is that the Argentinian would simply turn Villa into too much of a sideshow and his loose-cannon style would make him very low-hanging fruit for the British media.
This hasn't stopped online betting exchange Betfair from including Maradona's name on their list of potential contenders for the Next Aston Villa Manager. You can back the legendary Argentine to take over at Villa with a massive 55.0 price tag on Betfair at the moment. That's some very hefty odds, but this would likely be one of the oddest occurences ever if the deal actually went through.
Personally, I think after the victory at the weekend Kevin MacDonald will likely have earned himself a vote of confidence from the club ownership and that's been starkly reflected in the odds this weekend.
Kevin MacDonald's odds to be named full-time Aston Villa manager have dropped down to around 3.0- that's a large decline from the price he was listed at last week when the odds were initially unveiled. Sven Goran Eriksson, who is said to be willing to take a pay-cut for this job, and American manager Bob Bradley- currently out of contract with the US National side. They are listed at 6.2 and 7.4, respectively.
Other notables include Alex McLeish at 10.0 and Martin Jol at 12.0. Leonardo is trading at 21.0 and he's an interesting outside bet at this point. Steve McClaren is listed at 30.0 with Sam Allardyce at 26.0.
