EGYPT VS ALGERIA WORLD CUP QUALIFIER 2ND LEG BETTING TIPS
We’re just a few hours away from kick-off in the duel-in-the-desert with Algeria facing the accomplished Egyptian side, who only secured a vital play-off fixture thanks to a 95th minute extra-time goal that sent northern Africa into a veritable tizzy.
The match is happening in a neutral venue, well, as neutral as Sudan can possibly be. There were clashes prior to the match in Egypt where the Algerian team bus was pelted with stones, causing injury to several key players. Apparently the city where the match is happening is in utter lockdown. Hopefully there are no incidents and definitely no on-pitch incidents.
Egypt are entering the fixture at an odds-on price of 10/11 with Blue Square. Algeria can be backed at 11/4, which is a quality price for a team that performed quite well during the qualification phase.
A draw can be backed at 21/10 and should that actually happen we would wind up going into golden goal extra time before the brutal onset of penalties.
If you’re looking to bet on outright qualification, effectively the 120+ minute score, Egypt are short-priced at 4/9 with Algeria trading at 13/8.
The bookies tend to be quite confident in the fact that this will be a match limited to just 1 or 2 goals. Egypt certainly have the quality of players to be able to pull this one off, and I also think that it’s better for the World Cup if players of Egyptian quality are there. As an England fan, I would relish getting drawn with Algeria and would actually view Egypt as a tricky tie. I think World Cup Qualification would be incredible for both sets of fans and you can’t really say who deserves it more. I think Egypt are the more competitive side, but a plucky Algerian squad could certainly play the role of spoilers if things pan out in their direction.
