ENGLAND FAVOURITES FOR EURO 2012 QUALIFICATION
Wayne Rooney got back to goal scoring ways with the opening strike in England’s 3-1 win over Switzerland last night and put the Three Lions firmly on track for Euro2012 qualification.
Adam Johnson and Darren Bent got the other two goals which gives England a total of six points from two games and makes topping the group now a formality. The performance in Switzerland coupled with Friday’s win over Bulgaria at Wembley has eased the pressure on manager Fabio Capello somewhat, however, it will not be possible to fully extinguish the memories of South Africa until the Euro 2012 finals.
England are 9/1 with Totesport to win Euro 2012.
In golf, we now know the full line-ups of the two teams that will contest for the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor next month. Corey Pavin yesterday revealed that his wildcard picks would be Tiger Woods, Zach Johnson, Stewart Cink (all as expected) and the surprise inclusion of youngster Rickie Fowler.
It is now just over three weeks until the start of the competition and the odds on USA retaining the Ryder Cup have been shortening ever so slightly over the past couple of weeks. The visitors are now 7/4 with Coral whilst Europe are 4/7 to regain the Ryder Cup.
In Ultimate Big Brother nine contestants will become seven this evening as two of Vanessa Feltz, Nick Bateman and Michelle Bass are set to be evicted from the show. The bookmakers make Vanessa the clear 8/15 favourite to be the first evictee and it is just 11/10 that the two evictees are Vanessa then Michelle (in that order).
Brian Dowling remains the favourite to be crowned the Ultimate Big Brother winner on Friday evening at odds of 4/9 with Skybet whilst Chantelle Houghton is 4/1.
