ENGLAND VS ALGERIA STARTING LINEUPS CONFIRMED AND LATEST PREDICTIONS
There's certainly a few surprises in this starting lineup, although I guess you wouldn't really call them "surprises" per se if you read our initial article about the changes to the England line up.
It looks like David James has gotten the nod over Robert Greene and that's unlucky on Greene as it's not like David James has the best record in international goalkeeping.
Here are the full line-ups for the England vs Algeria match:
England : James, Johnson, Cole, Terry, Carragher, Lennon, Lampard, Barry, Rooney, Heskey
Algeria: M'Bohli, Bougherra, Belhadj, Yahia, Halliche, Boudebouz, Lacen, Ziani, Yebda, Kadir, Matmour
I think its a bit more balanced than the last match and the real focal point is going to be how much of a difference Gareth Barry offers as the more central midfielder. The match against the USA brought back the old Lampard/Gerrard argument that they can't play in the same team without a proper holding midfielder.
Wayne Rooney and Emile Heskey proved to be a potent partnership in the qualifying stages but you just wonder whether some of these teams have Heskey's number. Hopefully, Rooney won't spend 90% of the match dropping into midfield to pick the ball up himself- which basically makes Heskey a lone striker who doesn't know how to score.
I think that Fabio Capello has opted for organization in lieu of outright pace in this one. I really don't fancy Shaun Wright-Phillips on the left hand side and I would really like to see Joe Cole start a match up there.
Prince William has predicted a 3-0 victory to England while Prince Harry has stated that a 1-0 result is enough for him.
I think that England won't exactly stroll to victory, but they should be able to put a few past the Algerian defence. Nothing other than a win counts here.
