ENGLAND VS. AUSTRALIA- ASHES SQUAD AND SERIES PREDICTIONS 2010/11

With England finally wrapping up the farce of a series that was Pakistan, all eyes are now focused upon the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
A lot has changed since Flintoff took a side down under- resulting in a 5-0 mauling, and once again questions are being asked of England's ability as Ashes holders
There were no major surprises in the makeup of the squad, with the only names raising any eyebrows that of Monty Panesar and Chris Tremlett.
The positions of final pacemen, and second spinner, were the only significant ones up for grabs among a settled unit, with Tremlett's height and Panesar's Test experience proving critical deciding factors.
The rest of the squad received very little challenge, with Andy Flower opting to go with an experienced and settled unit- something that will serve the team well.
Steve Davies was also rewarded for his successful one-day form, with the back-up keeper role ahead of Kieswetter.
Ashes squad Andrew Strauss (capt), Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan, Matt Prior, Steve Davies, Stuart Broad, Tim Bresnan, Graeme Swann, James Anderson, Steven Finn, Chris Tremlett, Monty Panesar
On the betting front, Australia are still heavy favourites to take the series with William Hill placing them at 4/6, to England's 9/4
A draw is currently set at 9/2- a highly likely event when considering the talent available to both squads
With England realising the importance of a decent pace attack, having included a tall Tremlett, coupled with a maturing seamer in Jimmy Anderson, they could be challenging a lot more effectively than in the past.
England to take the series 3-1 is set at 8/1, with Australia set at 7/1 for the same scenario
For Australia to take the series 3-2 will see odds at 8/1, with England long shots at 14/1
This series is shaping up to be a classic. With England largely distracted by the media farce surrounding the Pakistan series, they will now be looking to carry the momentum of a decent summer into the Ashes.
On the other hand, Australia will be keen to ensure that England's dire run down under continues, with some world class characters in the form of Hussey and Ponting going all out for a home Ashes win.
Prediction: England to take Australia 2-1 at 10/1
