ENGLAND VS BULGARIA EURO 2012 QUALIFIER BETTING PREVIEW
William Hill is one of the few major bookmakers to have already listed a complete slate of odds for this weekend's Euro 2012 qualifying round kick-off. The big match is obviously going to be England vs Bulgaria and you can bank on this being a very important few matches for Fabio Capello as he attempts to calm fears that his management of England is spiralling out of control.
The media certainly haven't been helping things, what with the Sun effectively declaring war on the Italian, but I think that he does have the backing of the players and that they want to do well for him. It is a little dodgier for Capello now that he wants to bring through some younger blood so he's got a bit of a tight-rope to deal with.
England are major favourites to dispose of Bulgaria, who are even weaker-looking now that Dimitar Berbatov has given up his international career. England's odds to beat Bulgaria trade at 2/7 while the eastern European team can be backed at 7/1. The draw is trading at a 7/2 price tag.
The favoured correct scoreline looks to be a 2-0 result to England and you can back that at an 11/2 price tag. A 2-1 victory pays out at 15/2, as does a 3-0 win. A slim 1-0 victory pays out at 6/1 while a 4-0 result is a solid 14/1 payout.
A 1-1 draw trades at 17/2 while a 2-2 draw can be backed at 22/1. Bulgaria to win the match 1-0 is priced at 18/1 while a 2-1 result is listed at 22/1.
England to dominate the match and take both legs of the half-time/full-time market is priced at 5/6 while draw/England is listed at 10/3. The bookmakers do expect goals and you can back over 2.5 at a 7/10 price while under 2.5 is listed at 21/20. Over 3.5 is priced at 2/1 while under 2.5 trades at 4/11.
Wayne Rooney got himself off the mark for Manchester United on Saturday and he'll be looking to build on that performance with a big day out for England vs Bulgaria. Rooney is the only player listed at an odds-on price to score anytime and you can back him at 8/13 with an 11/4 price tag to score first or last. He's also at 11/4 to get two or more and he's 12/1 to hit a dramatic hat-trick.
Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Darren Bent and Carlton Cole are all listed at even-money to score anytime, but I would wait until you see the teamsheet before placing any wagers on these players. I think Capello may give the nod to Bent for this match, but that's just a hunch.
Steven Gerrard is priced at 6/5 anytime but the one to keep your eyes on in this fixture is definitely Theo Walcott- who has gotten off to a first-rate start in the 2010/11 English Premier League season. He's 40/1 to hit another hat-trick.
Theo Walcott to score first and England to win the match pays out at 7/1, while Walcott to score anytime and England to win rewards at 21/10.
