ENGLAND VS EGYPT FRIENDLY MATCH LATEST BETTING TIPS
Those who only ever pick up an English tabloid can be forgiven for thinking that this game is a foregone conclusion for England. And they’re probably the same people who will jump on the backs of Fabio Capello and the England players should they not win this one comfortably. However, despite narrowly missing out on the World Cup – they lost in a tiebreaking play-off against Algeria after the sides could not be separated in their group by either points, goal difference or goals scored – Egypt are a very good side that have won three African Cup of Nations in a row and are ranked 10th – just one place below England – in the FIFA rankings.
So where should your money be? Well, for the reasons highlighted above I wouldn’t be looking to back England at the paltry 1.4 (2/5) on offer at Betfair, the 9.6 (17/2) on Egypt to win and 5.0 (4/1) on the draw look a lot more appealing if you are to have a bet on the Match Odds market. However, I think that the Asian Handicap market is the one to look at here. Capello is likely to make a string of substitutions throughout the game and is also likely to tinker with the tactics and style of play from time to time. That is likely to produce a disjointed performance with the players struggling to get into any sort of rhythm for long periods of the game and if England do win then I don’t think it will be by a big score line. Egypt +1.0 and Egypt +1.5 at odds of 2.4 (11/8) and 1.8 (4/5) respectively look to be good betting options.
Goals are something that you can usually rely on in England friendlies under Capello. Since his appointment as the national team manager in January 2008 England have played 11 international friendlies and seven of those have ended with more than 2.5 goals, that statistic suggests that the 1.9 (10/11) on over 2.5 goals with Betfair is a good price to back. Although I do think we will be looking for Egypt to get on the score sheet if we are going to collect there and for that reason the 1.9 on both teams to score looks a much better bet.
Whatever you decide to bet on here, I’d advise going at it with small stakes after all it is only a friendly. And remember to curb that reaction should England fail to win; the result of this match does NOT mean that England will or will not win the World Cup.
