ENGLAND VS GERMANY PREDICTIONS AND WORLD CUP PREVIEW PART TWO
The bookmakers are giving the edge to Germany if it does happen to go past 90 minutes, but only if it gets to penalties. Ladbrokes is offering up an 11.0 price on an England extra-time win, an England win on penalties and a German win in extra-time. A German victory on penalties is priced at 10.0 odds.
In terms of the outright qualification price, England are available at odds-on with a 1.8 listing. The Germans to win by any means (extra-time and penalties included) is listed at an even-money price.
I think if the match is a lower-scoring affair then it always pays to keep your eyes on the defenders if you're going to be making goalscorer bets. Generally matches wind up being low-scoring if the strikers just aren't getting the job done, that doesn't take a phD to figure out. John Terry or Glen Johnson are good bets to grab the first goal with Terry at 26.0 and Johnson priced at 41.0.
Germany's Philip Lahm is also listed at 41.0.
The anytime goalscorer betting is a bit of a different story and this a wise option if you fancy a more open affair that may potentially turn into a 3-1 or 3-2 scenario. Wayne Rooney is listed at 2.37 while Miroslav Klose trades just behind at 3.0.
Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe are also listed at 3.0 while Lukas Podolski is an interesting bet at 3.5. Mesuit Ozil's odds to score are priced at 5.5 and that's a good bet if you think the Germans will take this one. If Ozil has a great game then it will be interesting to see how England cope.
Wayne Rooney's odds to get a hat-trick against Germany are listed at 34.0.
Miroslav Klose and Peter Crouch are the two players favoured to score via a header with both at 5.5 payouts.
We've mentioned in the past that discipline is going to be a key factor here and if both sides can keep 11 men on the pitch then its going to be an even contest. I think any team that gets a man sent off is going to lose as there is just so little between the sides. A red card at any point in the match is listed at 2.87. Wayne Rooney to be sent off is priced at 9.0.
I think that England are the progressive team here and if they can continue to build on their performances then they could threaten the Germans. I think keeping things tight for the first 45 minutes is England's priority as I think they can pull off the second half victory. I'm unsure about England's ability to chase the game though and I think if they score first then they should be able to hold out.
