England vs Ireland Betting Tips Part 2
- By Rex Dalton on May 29, 2013 16:19 GMTThis really could be a big opportunity for Wayne Rooney to step up and splash his name on the headlines for all the right reasons. Punters are confident that Rooney will start and bag at least a goal with the bookmakers now pricing him as short as evens to grab one anytime.

Wayne Rooney is 9/2 to score first and an odd 4/1 to score last - usually those are priced identically so it’s pretty clear that they don’t expect him to finish the game - hence the small fluctuation in price.
Jermain Defoe and Danny Welbeck are solid options as well, depending on who actually partners Rooney in attack. Defoe just gets the slight edge over Welbeck, price-wise, with a 6/4 ahead of the Manchester United striker’s listing of 7/4. Keep your eyes peeled for the teamsheets.
Frank Lampard will also be in the mix here and he’s a solid 7/1 to score the opening goal of the match. Lampard is 2/1 to grab an anytime goal and fixtures like this one tend to be bread and butter for Lamps. Expect him to arrive late in danger areas and perhaps have a few shots from outside of the box.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is becoming a better player every time we see him and he is now available at a very solid 7/2 to grab an anytime goal. The Ox is 12/1 to grab the opener and 10/1 to grab the last goal. Again, expect a lot of substitutions later on in the match.
With England having another fixture to play later on this week against Brazil, you reckon they may not hit top gear against the Irish. Those looking for value will do well to back a 0-0 bore draw, while a 1-0 result to England doesn’t seem entirely implausible.
