England vs Italy Match Preview
- By A.J. Ryder on March 26, 2018 13:42 GMTWe’ve got England building up some serious momentum as we head towards the 2018 World Cup in Russia after they put together a solid 1-0 victory over the Dutch on Friday last week. This time around they take on Italy and they are going into the contest as the outright favourites to get the victory against their continental rivals from Italia.
There was a lot to like about the on-pitch display in the Netherlands despite the fact that the loutish behaviour of a certain section of England fans certainly seemed to mar the result a bit. One can expect that the FA will be taking pretty serious precautions going forward - though who really knows what to expect from the Russians this summer.
England go into the contest as the significant favourites while Italy are trading at a much larger margin - the draw sits at a lower price than an outright Italian victory so that gives you an idea of the type of football that England will be expected to play in this contest.
It’s a welcome change from years back when England fans would have to watch their side go up against famous footballing nations like Italy and Germany as the distinct underdogs to get the victory - not anymore with Gareth Southgate’s quality young England side.
It’s already confirmed that Jordan Pickford will be in goal for England and you can expect them to keep the momentum going here - if he is able to keep another clean sheet then he could really be looked at as one of the marquee players to keep England’s World Cup dreams alive.
