With Wembley being the venue for this one and England looking to rebuild after a relatively disastrous outing at the World Cup in Brazil this past year, you can expect them to approach this as much more than a friendly.
Roy Hodgson named a number of new players in his line-up for this one and it appears as though we are officially into a new era for the England side as Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard are no longer lining up to play. Wayne Rooney will captain the side going forward and he’ll be looking to stamp his mark on the English team but criticism remains that he really hasn’t played that well for his home nation since World Cup 2006 in Germany.
Look forward to seeing a number of players emerging from the U-21 side with John Stones set to make a start for this one. He’ll be lining up alongside Phil Jones, Gary Cahill and Leighton Baines on the back line as a midfield of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling will round out the midfield quartet.
Daniel Sturridge and Wayne Rooney will be the starting strike partnership with Joe Hart tending goal at the back. New Arsenal signing Danny Welbeck will miss this one after picking up a slight knock in training.
Several uncapped players will be on the bench but could certainly feature as Calum Chambers, Danny Rose and Fabian Delph look for their first senior caps for the English side.
