Harry Kane is the obvious favourite to open the scoring for England with the bookmakers pricing him at a relatively short 12/5 margin to score first but we saw in the opening match that Kane is often a bit isolated up front and is more frequently used to herd opposition defenders away from gaps that the attacking midfielders behind him will be running into.

This makes Kane not a great option for first goalscorer though he’s much more likely to score the second or third goal. 

Phil Foden was able to flash some serious quality in the opening match of England’s Euro 2020 campaign and you’ll find that his 5/1 price to score first will probably be a popular option for many. You’ll find Marcus Rashford around the same price as well though he may not start the match which makes the bet a moot point. 

Those looking to lock in a big price for a first goalscorer might do well to back a more defensive player. With this one expected to be a nervy affair with not much between the two sides, a defender might be the one to pop up and knock in the only goal of the match. Take a look at John Stones or Harry Maguire - both sitting as high as 28/1. 

The real option here might be backing a red card at any point in the match. A sending off (a red or two yellows) would pay out a tasty 5/1 listing.
