As we get closer to the England vs Scotland match itself, England can be backed at a 2/5 price tag while the draw is trading at a 7/2 margin. Should Scotland be able to record a famous victory by scalping England at Wembley, they will be paying out a hefty price of 8/1.
Expect the odds on England to drop as we get closer to the match as many patriotic bets will be underway for this one despite the relatively short odds.
Wayne Rooney is the outright favourite player to score in this one and it looks like the bookmakers have him floated at even money to score at any point in the match while he carries a 4/1 price tag to score first or last. He is 9/2 to score two or more and a full 25/1 to grab a hat-trick that would likely send the back pages reeling with even more speculation.
Rickie Lambert is the other one to watch here and he’s trading at a 5/4 price to grab an anytime goal and a 5/1 listing to score first or last. Making his England debut after playing in the lower leagues and working in a warehouse recently, Lambert is a real blue-collar hero for the England fans and the opportunity to open his account at the first time of asking would further ensconce his position as a working man’s footballing idol.
Another to watch out for is the emerging Wilfried Zaha who put in a good shift in the Community Shield before being substituted off. He is priced at 11/4 to score an anytime goal.
