England vs Slovakia Euro 2016 Betting Tips PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on June 16, 2016 17:10 GMTAfter England were able to pull off one of the most sensational late goals in recent history and send themselves top of their group in Euro 2016, they now face a tricky tie against Slovakia in an attempt to seal progress through to the next stage as a top seed. In a match that really looked to have needed a bit of extra panache after an extremely mediocre first half for the Three Lions, Roy Hodgson made the right choices by substituting on Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy.
Both players would go on to score in the 2-1 victory against Wales.
Gareth Bale put in another signature free kick and Joe Hart was again made to look like a lightweight after positioning himself all wrong for the 40 yard free kick. The screamer from Bale set the Welsh fans alight, but it only took England ten minutes after half-time to grab the equalizer.
Marcus Rashford made an excellent debut and looked lively throughout – unsettling the Welsh defenders (who had played resolutely for the majority of the match) with his pace and trickery. Wayne Rooney put in an excellent shift and looked as though he played central midfield for his entire life.
There is much to be excited for with this England team now that they appear to have figured out tha Harry Kane does little more than sky the ball with every opportunity on goal and Raheem Sterling simply isn't match fit. Expect to see Vardy and Sturridge – and quite possibly Rashford – start the match against the Slovakians.
Heading into the match, England are trading as high as a 3/4 price tag for the outright victory while some bookmakers list them as low as a 13/18 shout. A draw would see the English through to the next stage but you reckon that they are going to go for the win here – and why wouldn't they since the Slovakians are not really expected to put in a massive performance here.
Though wouldn't it be just like England to lose the game when it matters most?
