Expect a really fascinating showdown between two sides that are in the middle of a pretty pronounced transition at the moment, and England continue to cope with a rash of recent injury problems.

Contemplating things at the moment is the absence of Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane, two players who were widely considered to be the big hopes heading into the last World Cup – both of whom promptly underwhelmed amongst an underhwleming group.
There is plenty of chance for redemption though as Gareth Southgate has announced that Jordan Henderson will skipper the England side against the respected Spanish team. While it probably goes without saying that the bulk of these players don't want to pick up an additional injury since they are due back at their clubs for action this weekend, you have to assume that this one will still be played with plenty of competitive spirit.
England would love nothing more than to build on their solid, though also underwhelming, victory of 3-0 over the Scots when they met up at Wembley on Friday evening. England picked up all of their goals from headers as plenty of their younger players stood up to make their presence felt – and you reckon that will have imbued several others with confidence since they know that with the side in this much flux, anyone can secure a starting position on the back of a few good outings for the Thre Lions and some solid club form.
Now one even has to question whether Wayne Rooney is set to be the long term captain for this side or whether Southgate will choose to go with a younger and more permanent option to build the team around.
