England face perennial challengers Sweden in a friendly match up this Wednesday. It makes sense to line up against them as we always seem to get drawn in the same group as Sweden no matter which International tournament is happening. There looks to be plenty of experimentation in the side that Roy Hodgson has named and he’s going to have his eye on a few of the younger players to come on at half-time or around the 60th minute mark.

It’s tough to see either side really blowing a hole in this one and running away with a 4-0 victory or anything like that. It could be a relatively cagey affair and most of the bigger names will just want to avoid injuring themselves before they get back to their respective clubs and the Champions League proper.
Sweden are getting the slim edge for this one from the bookmakers who have them available at a competitive 6/4 price for the outright victory in the match betting. Look for the draw around 11/5 - that’s likely to be a popular bet with neutral punters. England are the 9/5 underdogs in the away position.
Expect to see a fair amount of late action on this fixture as the actual starting line-ups are named. If it looks like Roy Hodgson has named a first choice starting 11 then you’re likely going to see England’s price take most of the late money. An experimental line-up full of names you hardly recognize won’t imbue much confidence for anything beyond a draw.
The favoured correct score outcome is a 1-1 result which pays out at 11/2. 1-0 to Sweden rewards at 13/2 while a 1-0 result to england pays out at 7/1. Most of those looking to have a bet on England will be looking to do business on a 2-1 victory at 10/1.
Wayne Rooney will be sitting this one out and his Manchester United teammate Danny Welbeck gets the nod as England’s most likely anytime goalscorer. You’ll find him floating around a 2/1 margin for an anytime goal and he’s known to produce some scrappy, battling efforts - the type of goals that we’re likely to find in this fixture.
Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge trades at 9/4 for an anytime goal while Steven Gerrard can be backed at 7/2 - he will likely be taking penalties so he’s more than worth a look at that price.
The hotshot youngster Wilfred Zaha, who has been called up from Championship side Crystal Palace, will be getting his first England cap and he is also priced at 7/2 to score anytime. He likely won’t start the match, but if he does, you reckon he’ll be raring to go and could be good value at that price.
