ENGLAND VS SWITZERLAND EURO 2012 QUALIFIERS LATEST ODDS AND TIPS PART ONE
England take on Switzerland this evening in what is many hail is going to be a ‘make or break‘evening for England striker Wayne Rooney. Following on from a tumultuous week that has bought Rooney’s private life to the fore, the England team are still odds on favourites to dominate this clash. Boasting a strike-force including in-form Theo Walcott, as well as Jermaine Defoe- fresh off scoring a hat-trick last week-England pose a serious challenge up front.
From a result perspective, I believe that England should be all over a Swiss-side that merely cannot match up to the world class firepower at England’s disposal. William Hill offer an England win at 5/6, with an unlikely draw set at 12/5.
Coming off England’s impressive, and more importantly, dominant display last week, bet365.com are predicting more of the same with Switzerland- a side boasting a respectable global ranking of 14th- yet still a long shot to win with odds set at 16/5 by bet365.
Score line odds are proving to be rather conservative across the board with bookies suggesting that this clash should be a low scoring affair. William Hill offer a 1-0 result in England’s favour at 5/1, with a 2-0 result showing at 15/2.
I feel that with England’s strikers hurting on the back of a disappointing World Cup, coupled with Rooney- a gritty and determined player when under the sort of media pressure witnessed this week-that this side will make a clear statement of their intentions to dominate the group. England will attack…and they will score. Simple. Switzerland, historically a decent defensive side, will tonight be struggling to match up to an English mid field/ striker combination that on their night is nothing less than world class.
If this were up to me I would be betting on a 4-1 result in England’s favour-set at a mouth watering 40/1 by bet365.com.
